Coffee with a Side of Culture at First Village Coffee in Ossining
Luis and Kathryn Corenas moved from San Francisco to New York and fell hard for the community they found in Ossining. Opening First Village Coffee in late 2016 was a long time dream come true for the couple, as they desired to create a local haven for culture, diversity, and really good coffee.
Tucked in a quaint part of Ossining, find First Village at 123 Main Street.
First Village's menu puts that boring cup o' joe spurting from your Keurig every morning to shame. They often change their beverage offerings, pouring anything and everything--matcha green tea lattes, iced coffee lemonade (don't knock it 'till you try it!), beet root lattes, and mochas--alongside more traditional coffees. The consistency comes in First Village's dedication to sourcing the best beans, teas, and other ingredients. Luis and Kathryn source coffee from all over but also rep local, with beans from roasters like Irving Farm in Millerton.
Your Coffee's Sidekick
Although First Village has a full kitchen and bakery that serves up a variety of sammies and baked goods, they are constantly hosting pop-ups and slinging goods from other local artisans. Peaceful Provisions, a vegan donut bakery, sells their donuts at the shop. And The Blue Pig Ice Cream in Croton-on-Hudson has hosted a few ice cream pop-ups there during the warmer months. Long story short-- to not get something to nibble on at First Village is a crime.
The Secret Menu
The latte art at First Village is on point! That IG photo of your teddy bear latte art perfectly posed next to a Peaceful Provisions donut will be #goals. And be sure to keep up with First Village on social-- they host a slew of events, including open mic nights, art workshops, and cooking classes.
